Welcome to the Rock Community Centre
The Rock Centre has been providing the community with health-related activities since 1990 and is a valuable asset to the community.
About Us
The Rock is a unique, multi-generational community centre located in a large, under-resourced council estate with a growing population.
The Centre is situated at the heart of the community, just a minute's walk from a community park, local shops, cash points, and bus stops, providing residents, parents, and carers with easy access to our centre and free parking.
Our centre offers facilities for activities identified by the community, with a particular focus on supporting elderly and disabled individuals of all ages. We address the needs of the entire community by tackling issues such as isolation, food poverty, loneliness, financial advice, health concerns, depression, and boredom. Our goal is to foster a sense of belonging and promote community cohesion.

We meet community health needs through accessible and complementary services, offering opportunities to improve health and well-being while supporting those with long-term health conditions. This approach creates a community hub that gives people a sense of purpose and belonging in an area known for its limited opportunities and amenities.
We offer volunteering opportunities and teach new skills to our volunteers. Since 1990, the centre has provided health-related activities, making it a valuable community asset. We maintain close links with local GPs and receive referrals for individuals with social or health issues. Our centre is a warm, safe space open to all and is used for NHS vaccinations. To help combat the cost-of-living crisis, our centre operates a daily food share scheme in partnership with a local supermarket chain, providing free food to address high levels of food poverty in the area.
The Rock Food Share Scheme
The Rock Centre runs a community Food Share Scheme in partnership with the local CO-OP to support local residents and reduce food waste. Our scheme provides access to a variety of nutritious and non-perishable foods, ensuring everyone in the community can enjoy healthy meals.
Partnerships with onsite Local Charities
The Rock Centre is proud to be home to two valued local charities: Lawrence Weston Community Transport and Lawrence Weston Out of School Activities (LWOOSA).
By providing a shared space, we are able to support their important work while fostering strong connections across the community.
By collaborating with these charities, the Rock Centre strengthens the impact of local initiatives and ensures a holistic approach to supporting residents of all ages. Together, we are committed to building a connected, caring, and resilient community.

Lawrence Weston Community Transport offers essential transport services to residents, helping people access healthcare, education, and community activities. By working closely with them, the Rock Centre can help ensure that everyone in our area has access to the services they need, particularly those who may face mobility or transport challenges.

Lawrence Weston Out of School Activities (LWOOSA) provides engaging programs and support for children and young people outside of school hours. Through our partnership, the Rock Centre helps create a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn, play, and develop new skills in a supportive community setting.
